THE INSTALLATION OF THE EKB DEVICE
The installation of the EKB devices shall be exclusively performed by personnel trained by the manufacturer, because a preliminary engine check is necessary, some measurements require adequate equipment, and the installation is specific to each engine, due to the different engine architecture and the need to choose the optimum installation position.
The technology applied by the EKOBIK devices is efficient only for reasonably maintained cars, therefore a preliminary check is performed.
The installation steps are described below:

1. EOBD test

2. Intake manifold vacuum measurement

3. Preliminary exhaust gas test

4. Installation of mounting brackets

5. Installation of intake inlet

6. Installation of EKB

7. Installation of the vacuum hose

8. Final exhaust gas test
- Eliminatory evaluation
a. General condition check (engine cleanliness, fluid leaks, visibly damaged elements, defective or improvised electrical contacts, working fluid levels outside of range)
b. Check the tightness of the exhaust system
c. Air intake check (air filter, route tightness)
d. OBD diagnosis (if there is an OBD socket on the vehicle)
Any of the points a, b, c or d are eliminatory; the EKB device shall be installed only after the issues have been remedied. The remedial operations will be performed at a repair shop capable of solving the issues found.
- Emissions test
Emission values, especially CO and HC, are critical, indicating the quality of combustion. Even if the maximum regulated values are exceeded, they will be within permissible limits after mounting the EKB device. Carburetor engines are exempted from the values below, as they use a different evaluation system.
Idle | ||||||
CO | ≤ 0,40 | OK | ≥ 0,40 ≤ 0,70 | uncertain | ≥ 0,70 | rejection |
HC | ≤ 300 | OK | ≥ 300 ≤ 400 | uncertain | ≥ 400 | rejection |
2500 rpm | ||||||
CO | ≤ 0,30 | OK | ≥ 0,20 ≤ 0,30 | uncertain | ≥ 0,30 | rejection |
HC | ≤ 100 | OK | ≥ 100 ≤ 150 | uncertain | ≥ 150 | rejection |
- The dyno test
The car is taken to the dynamometer stand, where the horsepower and torque test is done, first in the classic version, then with the EKB device in operation.
IMPORTANT: The customer receives, on the spot, a copy for the measurements performed, both those regarding pollutant emissions and the results of dyno tests.
